JVS Timber — Plywood Range

F17 Formply in Melbourne — Heavy-Duty Concrete Formwork Plywood Built for Reuse

Concrete formwork needs a panel that can handle the full hydrostatic pressure of wet concrete, come off cleanly without sticking to the pour, and stay intact through many uses without delaminating or losing its face. F17 Formply is made just for this job. It is a strong structural plywood with a film-coated face that lasts a long time and gives you smooth, clean concrete finishes every time. At JVS Timber, we supply F17 Formply in both standard sheet sizes — 1800×1200×17mm and 2400×1200×17mm — stocked in Melbourne and available for immediate collection or delivery to your construction site. Whether you are forming slabs, columns, walls, or structural beams, JVS Timber Formply delivers the performance your pour demands.

About F17 Formply

What is F17 Formply?

F17 Formply is a structural plywood manufactured to a minimum stress grade of F17 under AS 1720.1 — one of the highest structural ratings available in the Australian plywood market. This elevated stress grade ensures the panel can carry the significant lateral and hydrostatic loads generated by wet concrete without deflecting, bowing, or failing during the pour. The defining feature of Formply — what separates it from general structural plywood — is its film-coated face surface. A hard, smooth phenolic film is bonded to the face (and typically the back) of the panel under high heat and pressure, creating a surface that resists moisture absorption, repels concrete, and releases cleanly after the pour. This film coating is what enables repeated reuse, protects the veneer from concrete chemistry, and delivers the smooth, consistent concrete face finish that architects and engineers specify.

Key Highlights

Why Choose JVS F17 Formply?

A purpose-built concrete formwork plywood that delivers smooth concrete finishes, reliable structural performance, and multiple reuses across residential, commercial, and civil pours.

Smooth Concrete Finishes Every Pour

The hard phenolic film face releases cleanly from set concrete and delivers a consistently smooth, even concrete surface — reducing remedial finishing work and improving presentation of off-form concrete.

Engineered for Multiple Reuses

The film-coated face, Type A exterior bond, and high-density veneer core are engineered to withstand multiple pours — delivering a genuine per-pour cost advantage over non-coated alternatives when handled and stored correctly.

High F17 Structural Capacity

With an F17 stress grade under AS 1720.1, JVS Formply easily handles the hydrostatic pressure of wet concrete against slab edges, wall forms, column boxes, and beam soffits — without bowing, deflecting, or failing under load.

Moisture-Resistant Construction

Phenolic-coated face and back protect the core veneers from moisture absorption during pouring, curing, and on-site storage — critical to the panel's long-term structural integrity and reusability.

Industry-Standard 17mm Thickness

The 17mm thickness is fully compatible with standard Australian formwork framing systems, props, strongbacks, and tie systems — no specialist framing or accessories required.

AS 3610 Compliance

JVS Formply meets AS 3610 (Formwork for Concrete) requirements for deflection and strength in standard residential and commercial slab and wall forming applications — the compliance standard your engineer and certifier expect.

Janka Hardness — How Jarrah Compares

Jarrah's Janka hardness of 8.5 kN puts it among Australia's toughest decking timbers, providing superior scratch and impact resistance for high-traffic outdoor areas.

17mm

Why 17mm?

The 17mm thickness of F17 Formply is the Australian construction industry standard — specified across residential, commercial, and civil formwork systems for more than four decades. At this thickness, the panel delivers the right combination of rigidity under concrete load, manageable weight for on-site handling, and compatibility with standard formwork framing systems, props, and tie systems used across the Australian market. The F17 stress grade at 17mm thickness meets AS 3610's (Formwork for Concrete) requirements for deflection and strength for standard residential and commercial slab and wall forming applications. This makes it the standard for most builders, concreters, and formwork contractors in Melbourne and Victoria.
