JVS Timber — Plywood Range

Marine Plywood in Melbourne — Superior Moisture Resistance for Demanding Environments

When a project is going to face water, humidity, or coastal conditions, standard structural plywood simply will not do. Marine Plywood is the engineered solution — manufactured to the most exacting moisture-resistance standards in the plywood category, using void-free veneer construction and Type A waterproof adhesive bonding that withstands prolonged and repeated exposure to wet conditions without delaminating or failing. At JVS Timber, we supply AA Bond Marine Plywood in a full range of thicknesses from 6mm to 25mm, stocked in Melbourne and available for immediate collection or delivery. Whether you are building a boat, fitting out a coastal property, or specifying panels for a permanently wet environment, our marine ply delivers the performance your project demands.

About Marine Plywood

Engineered for Water, Designed for Long-Term Performance

Marine Plywood is the most moisture-resistant panel in the Australian plywood category — manufactured specifically for applications where water exposure is expected, continuous, or inevitable. Boat builders, marine infrastructure contractors, coastal builders, and wet-area fitout specialists rely on marine ply because no other plywood product delivers the same combination of void-free veneer construction, Type A waterproof bonding, and long-term dimensional stability under wet conditions. At JVS Timber, we supply AA Bond Marine Plywood manufactured to the strict requirements of AS/NZS 2272 (Plywood — Marine). Our full thickness range from 6mm to 25mm covers every marine and wet-environment application — from hull skinning and bulkhead construction through to wet-area substrates, coastal cladding, and exposed structural panelling. Stocked in Melbourne and supplied ready for collection or delivery across Victoria.

Key Highlights

What Makes Marine Plywood Different?

Marine Plywood is not simply a waterproofed version of standard plywood. It is a distinctly manufactured product with three critical differences that set it apart:

Void-Free Veneer Construction

Every veneer layer is manufactured to be free of internal voids, gaps, and core defects. In standard structural ply, small voids within the core are acceptable; in marine ply, they are not — because voids trap moisture, promote delamination, and create structural weak points under sustained wet exposure.

Type A Waterproof Adhesive Bond

Marine ply is bonded with a fully waterproof phenolic resin adhesive (Type A bond to AS/NZS 2272 or AS/NZS 2269), which does not soften, creep, or delaminate when subjected to prolonged water immersion or boiling water testing.

Higher Face & Core Veneer Standards

The face and core veneers in marine ply are graded to tighter tolerances, minimising natural defects and producing a denser, more uniform panel that holds fastenings, coatings, and finishes more reliably than standard construction ply.

Janka Hardness — How Jarrah Compares

Jarrah's Janka hardness of 8.5 kN puts it among Australia's toughest decking timbers, providing superior scratch and impact resistance for high-traffic outdoor areas.
