What is Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)?
Laminated Veneer Lumber is an engineered wood product manufactured by bonding multiple thin veneers of timber together with their grain running parallel, under heat and pressure, using structural adhesives. This parallel-grain lamination process produces a beam that is significantly more uniform, dimensionally stable, and structurally predictable than sawn timber of equivalent cross-section — eliminating the knots, grain deviations, and natural variability that constrain the structural performance of solid sawn members.
